Welcoming the new Rector Father David

Rector’s welcome

Welcome to our benefice web site. In the photograph above you see our Rector, Rev’d David Ridgeway, at the celebration following his Induction Service on Sunday 29th November 2015. The service took place in our largest church, at Castor, dedicated to St. Kyneburgha, a Saxon princess, who in the seventh century founded a convent where the church now stands, among the ruins of what is thought to have been the second largest Roman building in Britain. The present church is Norman, and has some rare and beautiful carving on the tower. It was dedicated in 1124. The main benefice Holy Communion service is held here every Sunday at 10.15am.

Remembering His Royal Highness Prince Philip

At the moment our nation is in mourning following the death of HRH Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh.  God was clearly at work in his life and this was manifested in his faithful and tireless support of Her Majesty the Queen. It was also demonstrated in the way in which he used his considerable gifts and influence, and the respect he commanded across the globe, to challenge human beings to have a greater respect for the environment and the natural world, as well as through his work to encourage and support young people through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.  It is right that we should all offer prayers of thanksgiving for a life well lived; a life that over many decades has enriched the life of the world. Our prayers should also be extended to remember Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and the royal family at this time of deep loss and sadness.

We are flying our church flag at half mast and you might have heard the tolling of the passing bell.

As requested by the Royal Family, we invite you to leave messages of condolence via the online Book of Condolence.
