Mens’ Breakfast Forum
Following a short break over the summer, the Mens’ Breakfast Forum will again take place on Saturday 19th September 8-9:30am at the Cedar Centre.
The forum is open to all men working, retired, those seeking work and anyone else who is interested. Providing an alternative to the ‘coffee morning’, where we can not only enjoy a bacon butty together but also discuss a range of issues. The purpose of the forum is to share practical insights, exchange views and experiences.
Government announcements about helping youngsters from poor backgrounds, to aspire to the professions have met with mixed reviews. Many comments in the media, have displayed a lack of understanding of the situation and the people concerned. David Henderson will lead a discussion on the subject, by describing a pioneering approach he was involved with in Teesside.
Everyone is invited to express an opinion on the topic in general and the approach promulgated by the Government.
If you wish to attend (for catering purposes) please let Jo at the Parish Office know (tel 380900 or email admin.castor@btconnect.com). Refreshments will be provided and we ask for a donation of £2.00 per head.
All Welcome.
Church For Children On Sundays
We are re-organizing the whole of Church for Children on Sundays at Castor. It is hoped the new arrangements will be much more flexible. With the new structure children will have a chance to spend some of the time in church if they want and also to join in with children’s activities in the Cedar Centre.
There will be greater choice as we are putting together a much larger team with Helen Boulton, the churchwarden as the coordinator for the new children’s church arrangements assisted by Emma Irby and three teams of teachers and helpers.
We intend to re-launch the new children’s church arrangements on Sunday 18th October at 10.15am. Details will follow nearer the time.
Guild Of Servers – St Kyneburgha's Church
We are intending to start a Guild of Servers for adults, young people and children at church who do not wish to join the choir. They will be trained to do all the tasks that servers carry out at services and will be on duty in pairs. Children can join from the age they would usually join the choir.
The Guild of Servers Coordinator will be John Morris. Anyone with names of those who may interested please ring either the Parish Office 01733 380900 or the Rectory 01733 380244.
Please contact the Rector with any queries. We hope to launch the guild at the end of September, first batch on duty for Harvest Festival 4th October 2009.
Launch of Village Youth Club
Following the successful launch of The Zone, we are delighted to announce the opening of a village youth club for children in school years 7, 8 and 9. To celebrate the opening we held Baseball Cookout launch event on Sunday 13th September We were delighted with the turnout and support shown by the younger members of our community and look forward to seeing them at the weekly meeting of the group.
The CVYC (Castor Village Youth Club) meets each Sunday (in term time) in the Cedar Centre 5:30-7pm. Club sessions are run by a professional youth worker Sam and supported by St. Kyneburgha PCC and a group of co-ordinators.

Castor First Sunday Coffees and more…!
As you might know, the first Sunday of each month at St Kyneburgha's is a family friendly service. The children help to take the service, and at the end there's refreshments and Traidcraft things to buy. As you also might know, the church fund-raising task is ever-present! Our gathering following the service has now moved to the Cedar Centre and we are delighted to offer refreshments and a small number of stalls (Traidcraft, cakes and second-hand books/cd/dvd), straight after church (11.15am).
Please join us for a cup of coffee after the service, and hopefully we can raise a bit of money for the church in a fairly painless way!
We will hold our October First Sunday Coffees and More on Sunday 4th and will also be there on Sunday 1st November.
If you would like to help or bake a cake, please contact Helen Tovey on 01733 380617 or (preferably) email helentovey@aol.com
To donate books/Cd’s/DVD’s, please contact John Morris on 01733 380349 or email john@morrisjj.com
If you are interested in holding a stall or simply volunteering your help please contact Jo Morris on 01733 380900 or email admin.castor@btconnect.com

Would you like to get involved with the Trust?
We are a small group with a big challenge and we rely on the support of a wide circle of Friends to both help arrange and support the events that raise the precious money the Trust needs to fund its work. In addition to raising money through the events we run, a large amount of the money we spend comes from grant applications. Once we have a project identified and funds available, the Trust manages the project directly or with the help of a volunteer. If you would like to take part, then please get in touch.
