The Sentences

HYMN:

The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want; he makes me down to lie in pastures green; he leadeth me the quiet waters by.
My soul he doth restore again, and me to walk doth make within the paths of righteousness, e’en for his own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through death’s dark vale, yet will I fear none ill; for thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still.
My table thou has furnished in presence of my foes; my head thou dost with oil anoint, and my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life shall surely follow me; and in God’s house for evermore my dwelling-place shall be.

Reading:Ecclesiastes 3: 1-9

Gospel: St. John ch 10. Vs 11-16

Address:

HYMN:

Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways! Reclothe us in our rightful mind, in purer lives thy service find, in deeper reverence praise.

In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word rise up and follow thee.
O Sabbath rest by Galilee! O calm of hills above, where Jesus knelt to share with thee the silence of eternity, interpreted by love!
Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the stain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace.

Prayers:

Priest:            Let us pray

Lord have mercy upon us

All:            Christ have mercy upon us

Priest:            Lord have mercy upon us

Priest:             As our Saviour taught us, so we pray.

All:            Our Father, who art in heaven,

            Hallowed be thy name;

            thy kingdom come;

            thy will be done;

            on earth as it is in heaven.

            Give us this day our daily bread.

            And forgive us our trespasses,

            as we forgive those how trespasses against us.

            And lead us not in to temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.

Priest:   Rest eternal grant him O Lord,

All:       And let light perpetual shine upon him.

Special Prayers:

HYMN:

We plough the fields, and scatter the good seed on the land, but it is fed and watered by God’s almighty hand: he sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain, the breezes, and the sunshine, and soft, refreshing rain. All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above; then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, for all his love.
He only is the maker of all things near and far; he paints the wayside flower, he lights the evening star; the winds and waves obey him, by him the birds are fed; much more to us, his children, he gives our daily bread. All good gifts…
We thank thee then, O Father, for all things bright and good, the seed-time and the harvest, our life, our health, our food. Accept the gifts we offer for all thy love imparts, and, what thou most desirest, our humble thankful hearts. All good gifts…
