Peter Thompson, Revd David Rideway and Jo Morris from St Kyneburgha Church, Castor and Peterborough Telegraph photographer David Lowndes present a cheque to Dr. Siva Kumaran at the Haematology Unit at the City Hospital after an evening talk at the church

(2nd February 2018) Stewart Francis and David Lowndes with Rev. David Ridgeway and Jo Morris from our church were delighted, last week, to present a cheque for £758 to Dr. Sivakumaran, Consultant Haematologist at Peterborough City hospital for the Haematology Research fund.

The donation represented 50% of the funds raised at our recent ‘In conversation with…’ event at which David Lowndes was interviewed by Stewart Francis and presented photographs he had taken for the Peterborough (Evening) Telegraph over 44 years.

The event marked the 20th anniversary of the death of Stewart’s wife Jaki from leukaemia. In 1997 the fund set up in her name raised £70,000 to purchase a flow cytometer for leukaemia diagnosis in Peterborough.

Thanking us, Dr. Sivakumaran said “The donation will support the current research projects into Prion diagnosis and Leukaemia”

This event formed part of St. Kyneburgha Action Plan to support local charities.
