St Kyneburgha, Castor

St Kyneburgha is a popular and active Ancient Church, grade I listed building. It is regarded amongst the top 100 churches in England, it has been a place of worship since the 4th Century. There is Roman, Saxon and Norman stonework visible within the building, exemplified by the famous Norman Tower and Angel Roof."

Castor is known internationally among archaeologists as the centre of an important Roman settlement along the Nene valley west of Peterborough. The Roman palace (c. 250 AD) or praetorium was the second largest Roman building in Britain. The church is built on the site of the Roman courtyard.

This ancient Church has been a place of worship since 4th Century, It has Roman, Saxon and Norman stonework and is set in an attractive old village setting. It has a famous Norman tower and stunning medieval Angel Roof."
